The E-2 visa requires three vital components of you.
You need to show:
- That you are in a position to develop and direct the enterprise. This means you have the skills and the experience to run and expand a business in the US.
- That your investment is more than marginal. This means you intend to earn more than just a living.
- Finally, that the investment you are making will create jobs for Americans.
The best way to show that your application addresses these points is to provide a five year plan. This is not a document for you to use as a template over the first five years. Far from it. It is a statement of intent for the Embassy staff to see that you fulfil the above points. There’s no requirement for this in the Foreign Affairs Manual unless you are applying for E-2 on a start-up. However, there is no better way of showing Embassy staff that you know what you are talking about, and there is no other opportunity in the application to do this.
When it comes to renewal, again it is not a requirement. The business plan provides you with the opportunity to show them. There is no better way of showing the Embassy how you intend to improve the business. Remember you need to show how you intend to further “develop the enterprise”. This means you will continue to grow, create more jobs and make enough to further invest in your own success. These are the reasons you deserve a renewal.
The addition of a marketing plan shows that you understand recession and have a plan to beat it.
There is no better way of impressing the Embassy staff with your drive and ambition. |
